Hear attack is among the leading causes of death among men. How does heart attack or myocardial infarction take place. A plaque made up of cholesterol, calcium, or other floating substances breaks out into the blood stream causing a blood clot. This clot blocks and decreases the flow of blood into the arteries leading to the heart. Since blood carries oxygen and other vital nutrients, the deprivation of the heart from adquate blood supply or flow results to heart attack which can be fatal in many instances.
The truth about myocardial infarction is that it is not an incident that sudenly and instantly takes place. The cholesterol that causes blockage is actually a result of an unhealthy diet for a long time. The fats accumulate until such a time that they become unmanageable. You already know what happens next. Although heart attack may occur among younger men in their 20's or 30's, the majority of incidents attack men in their 40's above. That is the time when men start to have problems as regards their cholesterol level and blood pressure. Are you above 40? Do you have problems in your cholesterol level? Do you worry that you might be the next victim of a heart attack? You can stop worrying only if you start to check and improve your lifestyle. Here are 6 important tips for you: 1. Low fat diet - Since cholesterol is the major factor leading to coronary infarction, the most effective strategy is to cut yourself from foods rich in fat. You can minimize your diet, but small fat intakes by choice still accumulate through time. 2. Healthy diet - In place of fatty foods, eat instead plenty of vegetables, fish, fruits, and other cholesterol free food items. 3. Regular excercise - Physical exertion helps burn out excess calories and undesired fat intakes. Moreover, excercise relaxes your body and frees you from stress which can also trigger heart attacks. You can have as many options as you want in excercising: aerobics, gym, jogging, walking, and other forms. You can also engage into sports which is very essential to a healthy living. 4. Quit smoking and drinking - If you want to avoid heart problems or if you have already developed one, the best move for you is to stop these vices. Smoking and drinking are catalysts of heart attacks. 5. Avoid or free yourself from stress - As mentioned earlier, stress can lead to heart problems and trigger heart attacks. Although you cannot avoid pressures due to work and other concerns, you can devise a way out of stress. Here you have a wide range of options: excercise, sports, leisure activities, meditation or yoga, rest, and many more. 6. Medical check-up and treatment - Above all else, have a regular check of your heart, blood pressure, and cholesterol level. If you have acquired the risk, consult your doctor on a regular basis. Your physician always knows the treatment that is best for you. All the above steps are important. After all, there's no better remedy and prevention for the risk of myocardial infarction other than a healthy lifestyle. Monday, November 21. 2005Breaking the Bad Habit
The truth about change encompasses everything especially people. People do ransform. There are, however, two ways in which you can look at this fact. Either you grow, or start to deteriorate. Sure it does sound alarming but it is true. Ideally, people are expected to expand their mind and grow in every aspect. Sad to say, however, that there are those who head into the opposite direction. While there are adventurous people who keep on exploring new activities and knowledge, there are also those who choose to remain in their seats. Surely, it is the secure way to avoid external risks and dangers, but definitely not the safest option for people internally. For, staying in a comfort zone leads to both physical and intellectual stagnance or worse even deterioration.
The tough question now is: "Where are you heading?" You have to be honest in answering this matter, yet it takes a lot of courage to do so. The important thing is that an honest admission of a bad habit becomes your spring to jump and advance. If you seek personal growth, then you have to take the initial steps. The first steps are always the most difficult to make. But the effort is worth it. Now is not the time to judge or criticize your current lifestyle, but rather it is the moment to help yourself. If you believe that you continue to learn and grow in your habits, then that is great for you. Keep up the good work. Yet if you realize that you have intentionally or unintentionally remained at the same point, then you have a lot of changes to do. Routine is significant especially when you are a very busy person. When you are the type of person who does multiple works or attends meetings within a day, then setting your priorities is a need and the safest decision for you. Yet if you start to feel like a robot, doing the same things each day at the same pace and schedule, you better do something about your routine. You do not need to totally changed it. Just be creative. Put accent to your daily tasks. You can interchanged a few schedules or you can try other work strategies sometimes. More importantly, you can change or add a few activities especially for the weekend. You can do other sports, start new hobbies, go out with your family and friends, visit other places or any other activitiy that is not only good for you but also for your wife and kids, if you are already a family man. In this way, you can work hard, but at the same time enjoy and appreciate what you do. In the end, your life grows and flourishes and your family as well. One of the health problems that concern men especially when they reach the middle age is impotence or erectile dysfunction. This problem takes place when a man fails to gain or keep an erection during the entire sexual activity. Generally, impotence affects men who are aged 40 and above. Yet it can also occur to men at a younger age. According to a research concerning impotence, 50% of the male population from ages 40 up to 70 suffer impotence to a certain degree. Moreover, 1 out of ten men has a difficulty in achieveing erection.
Causes of Impotence: There are many factors that can lead to erectile dysfunction. Among these causes are the following: 1. Damaged blood vessels or arteries of the penis - Defect of the blood vessels in the penis impedes the process of erection. 2. Nerve problems - Nerves play a role in the transmission of messages necessary for erection. Damaged nerves then fail to send the messages and stimuli important for erection. 3. Anxiety - Depression and anxiety disrupts sexual excitement. 4. Diabetes - A certain chemical in the blood sugar contradicts the enzyme for erection. 5. Problems with the male hormones - Hormonal imbalance is also another underlying factor for erectile dysfunction Effects of Impotence on Men: Erectile dysfunction affects men in various ways. First, in terms of his sexual health, it deprives men of fulfilling their sexual function and at the same time denies them the satisfaction of their needs. Second, it also affects the sexual relationship of men with their partner. Because of impotence, men become incapable of satisfying the needs of their sexual partner. Consequently, this incapacity leads to a poor quality of sex life. Third, are the psychological effects of erectile dysfunction on men. Men's inability to engage into a good sex often lessens his self-confidence in front of his partner. Moreover, if the problem persists, it can also lead to depression. Impotence is a problem which must be addressed immediately by men. Sex is an important element in a relationship. The reality is that a lot of relationships have been affected and threatened due to this sexual problem. Men who suffer from this problem must seek the help of a doctor. Moreover they must explain well their situation to their partner in order to be understood. In this way, they can cope with impotence without putting at risk their relationship. Thursday, November 17. 2005Diabetes May Lead to Impotency
Erectile dysfunction is a health problem among men that occurs during the middle age. In fact to some, impotency even starts earlier. This is a serious problem for both its physical and psychological implications. Not only does it affect the normal sexual function of men, but it can also lead to anxiety and depression. A man suffering from this may isolate and withdraw himself emotionally because of sexual incapacity.
There are many underlying causes of erectile disfunction. Among these is diabetes. According to studies, men who are diabetic are more vulnerable to impotency. Moreover, based on the results of researches, more than half the population of men who suffer diabetes are likely to get erectile dysfunction. How is diabetes related to the development of erectile disfunction? The male sex organ is composed of blood vessels and nerves whose responses to stimuli lead to erection. Diabetes affects this process by destroying the very nerves and blood vessels that cause erection. Although a man is intense in his sexual urge or even if he has balance in his hormones, he will then find difficulty in achieving an erection. According to medical studies the blood sugar in diabetic males serve as an inhibitor to the enzymes that begin the process of erection. The enzyme that initiates the series of vascular processes that lead to erection is Endothelial Nitric Acid Syntheses (eNOs). This particular enzyme enables the unleashing of Nitric Oxide at the nerve ends in the male sex organ. Then, this flow of Nitric Oxide leads to the increase of the blood flow in the penis. The result of this process is erection. How does diabetes then affect the process? The O-GLcNac (a blood sugar) which exists in male patients with high blood sugar disrupts the enzyme eNOs in enabling the erectionprocess . This interruption done by O-GLcNac may lead to the damage of the blood vessels and nerves leading to impotency. Men who are diabetic then must take advantage of all the assistance available especially if they are facing erectile dysfunction. There are a lot of medications available in the market like vacuum for erection and injected medicines. They can also undergo prosthesis of the penis. Another help for men is therapy since the impotence also affects them psychologically. Therapy enables them to deal with their anxiety and depression. More than anything else, they must seek the assistance of a doctor especially before taking any medication. Wednesday, November 16. 2005Ten Steps to Achieve Your Dream Abs
