In the West, Chlamydia is one of the most popular sexually transmitted diseases or STDs. Often dubbed as silent disease, the reason for this is that most men who have already acquired it have no idea that they are already affected.
One cause for this STD is the bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. When this inhabits your semen, it does not show symptoms right away. Usually, the time span usually is three weeks before the infection occurs. You can know that you have acquired the disease when your penis is already discharging a gooey substance that is like a pus. Aside from that, peeing may prove to be painful for you. However, these common symptoms are only mild so you may not notice it right away. As such, the disease gets worse without you knowing it. When you find out about it it, it is already in its serious stages.
If you do not seek treatment immediately, it can lead to the disease called epididymitis. This is an infection that happnes to your reproductive pipes, which is located near your scrotum. When these get affected, they will become swollen and will hurt a lot.
You are more prone to this disease when you always engage in oral, anal, vaginal sex without using protection. As a safety precaution, it is always better to visit your doctor regularly. This is to detect the STD even at its early stages.
When you consult a doctor, he or she will get a sample of your urine or even penile fluid. This will be sent to a laboratory for further tests. When your doctor finds out that you are positive for Chlamydia, then he or she will prescribe an antibiotic for you.
In case you have this STD, doctors strongly advise that you inform your sex partner that you have this disease. This is to help prevent the spread of this STD.
